The Custom Z Series was born of Yamaha' s long and close partnership with the legendary trumpeter Bobby Shew. Bobby is an incredibly versatile player, and to meet all his playing requirements he wanted to create one super-efficient instrument which could scream out a powerful lead, or play soft, mellow ballades. He finally found that instrument in the Custom Z.
The YTR-8310Z has been a very popular model among professionals and serious amateur players since its introduction in 2005. The second generation of the YTR-8310Z was introduced in 2019. Building on the success of its predecessor, a number of improvements were made.
A new, slightly heavier two-piece design valve casing in combination with a thinner casing brace adds a bit of resistance and enables the YTR-8310Z III to produce the powerful, well-defined tone that today’s jazz players demand.
Furthermore, the design of the lead pipe, valve caps, finger buttons, tuning slide and the case have been improved.
