Ibanez RG470 — Made in Japan by FujiGen, late 1992.First-generation RG470, the only run ever built in Japan. Serial F243526, stamped on the back of the headstock with "Made in Japan" below (see photos). "F" = FujiGen factory, "2" = year.The RG470 name was later reused for 20+ years on Korean and Indonesian guitars selling at 200-350 EUR. This is the original Japanese one, with the good hardware.WHY IT'S WORTH ITSame FujiGen line, same basswood body and thin Wizard neck as the RG550/RG570 that ask 750 EUR+. Cheapest way into a Japanese one. In 1993 it already carried the V7/S1/V8 pickups the flagship RG550 only got in 1994. Candy Apple was a Europe-only catalog finish.SPECS- Basswood body; thin one-piece maple Wizard neck- Rosewood board, 24 jumbo frets, 25.5" scale- Original Ibanez Edge double-locking trem (not Lo-TRS, not Edge II)- HSH, Ibanez V7/S1/V8 pickups, 5-way switch- Gotoh tuners; Top-Lok III locking nut- Square pre-AANJ neck heelCONDITION — honest, player-grade. Plays great, straight neck, all electronics working. A 34-year-old guitar; I'd rather show everything than have surprises:- No trem arm (Ibanez 2LE2-1B, about 25 EUR, press-fits)- Weak trem springs, due for replacement (about 10 EUR)- Cracked plastic ring on neck pickup- Light surface rust on neck plate, screws, saddles- Two finish chips to bare wood on the lower edge near the jack- Sticker mark in the finish above the neck pickup- Light scratches around the bodyNone of it affects tone or playability.
