Tacoma EK36c Koa Cedar Guitar $2149.99 Canadian

Used Tacoma EK36C Limited Edition Guitar in good condition. It was called a mini jumbo but is similar in size to Taylor’s Grand Auditorium but a little thicker body for more volume and sustain. It has a full length 25.5” scale and a 1 ¾” nut. The nut and saddle are bone. It has AAAA figured curly Acacia Koa back and sides from the big Island of Hawaii. The Western Red Cedar was salvaged from a tree that fell many centuries ago into the Salmon River estuary and had a ~600 year old growth cedar using it for a nurse log. By its ring count it was over 2000 years old when it died. While the series of 150 was intended to have a pick up, I requested that mine (#2) have none so it is straight acoustic. I also requested a C shaped neck which is closer to the old Kalamazoo Gibsons. The fretboard and bridge are ebony as are the bridge pins, with abalone dots. The fretboard and frets are new as the original had too much wear. The purfling is several woods: ebony, walnut cherry and maple. The original lacquer was too thick and tended to get air underneath. I refinished the back and sides with a glossy lacquer top coat. The top I did hand rubbed French polished shellac to keep it light and it made the sound even better with longer sustain. There is a double action truss rod. I put a custom truss rod cover of the Raven stealing the Pearl from the clam (flying across the moon). This has its original Tacoma brown TKL case which is scuffed around the edges and has a few stickers on it but all the clasps work fine. I am downsizing my collection and kept this till the last. It is set up with extra light Tomastic Infeld Plectrum strings.

 Because I replaced the fretboard, frets, nut and saddle and refinished the guitar it has a few features that are not identical to this limited series (no pick-up, no gingko leaf inlay and especially no super thick lifted lacquer.
