About this listing
The Rhodes Chroma was the last synthesizer designed by ARP Instruments before they went bankrupt in 1981.It was completed and released by CBS/Fender, who had acquired Rhodes and ARP’s assets. This is why it's sometimes branded as "Rhodes Chroma".It's a polyphonic analog synthesizer with digital control—a groundbreaking hybrid for its time. The Chroma is velocity-sensitive, features aftertouch, and supports 16 voices, though later configurations sometimes had 8 or fewer.About the Model 2101The 2101 model is the standard Rhodes Chroma keyboard (as opposed to the Chroma Expander, which is module-only).It features a full 64-key weighted keyboard.Only about 3,000 units were made between 1982 and 1984.Serial Number 21010090The serial number 21010090 likely means:Model: 2101 (standard Chroma keyboard)Unit #: 0090 – This would suggest it is the 90th Chroma ever made, placing it very early in production—possibly 1982.Early units like this are often more valuable to collectors, especially if they are in working condition or have been refurbished.CC+ MIDI retrofit boards for better MIDI integration.Power supply replacements (original PSUs were notoriously unstable).New CPU boards for reliability.
