Miktek MPA-201 Dual Channel Microphone Preamp -- Very Cool Pre

A used and faithfully operational Miktek MPA-201 dual channel class A mic preamp. The unit is fully operational and is in excellent cosmetic condition aside from a ding on the upper right rack ear. I gotta tell you, this is a solid preamp. Weighing in at a robust 16 pounds, this preamp has quality features that are unique. Now, the preamp has serious gain with 70 db available, but the secret weapon is how the high-pass filter and "smooth" button provide unique and useful tone-shaping options. In fact, I find that using the high-pass filter to find the sweet spot for whatever signal one is running is somewhat like using a variable negative feedback control with a guitar amp. It is very useful and wildly cool; and with the "smooth" option one can adjust how edgy or diffused the signal is through the output transformers. Having a few impedance options is a huge plus, and the instrument DI path sounds amazing. All in all, having two channels via this Miktek MPA-201 is a solid move.
