I love my Graphite Grand Stick, but his factory PASV-4 pickup doesn't always meet all my expectations. So over the years I've built several alternative pickups to use in my Grand Stick interchangeably with the PASV-4. These have been modules built from both various guitar pickups and DIY coils. As part of tidying up and reducing too many of these pickups, I’m putting 2 modules up for sale.
In this announcement, the subject of the sale is a module partly modelled on the Stickup. Completely passive design with volume control for each of the two groups of pickups.
Housing made on a 3D printer. Shielded with copper foil and encased in black car wrapping film.
The entire module is the same size as an ACTV-2 or PASV-4. You won't just put it on the Railboard and Grand Stick factory-equipped Stickup, because it's bigger than that.
Cons:
1. the original print of the case had shortcomings typical of cheap 3D printing, i.e. large irregularities and partial loss of material texture. In the end, the case was covered with a foil, which, to put it mildly, was not very well done, as the foil is coming off in the corners and air is getting underneath it. Please take a closer look at the photos.
2. The overpoles locations were threaded by hand. It was not possible to maintain the precision of the machine during this operation. As a result, not all of the overpoles are centrally located under the strings, and in order to maintain proper signal reception in such cases, some of the Stickup-style overpoles have been replaced with ones with large heads to effectively collect the signal from the strings.
3. The foil on the casing is dirty with glue/grease in some places.
4. Shielding does a good job of protecting the circuit from interference, but a side effect of its use is a certain deficit of high frequencies in the sound. I think putting on volume pots with higher resistance (500kOhm or even 1 MOhm) would help a lot by opening up the resulting sound. Unfortunately I hate soldering, so I never implemented this fix.
At the buyer's request, I will add a film to the consignment to reinstall it in place of what is there now.
Generally the current exterior can be seen in the photos. I have also added photo of the inside from the assembly stage.
Quickly recorded sound samples can be found in the video. The sound specifically is of the dry type without any effects or correction. Please also mercifully do not point out any shortcomings in my play, as it was not the point of recording.
See my other announcements, where I’m getting rid of another 12-string Grand Stick pickup module, and many individual pickups suitable for making other Stick pickup modules (e.g. EMG FT, FTC).
