A Very Rare 1970's Schecter Jazz Bass Guitar with a great sounding Active EMG, a Dimarzio, BadAss Bridge and Hardshell Case...It has been played hard by a Pro Player here in Des Moines but it cleaned up great. Check out the Finish Crazing on this cool guitar. Great Ash body and Birdseye Maple Neck...The bass weighs in at 9 lbs 15 ozs...What a great bass...WOW!!! 

I learned a lot about Schecter after finding this bass. I originally thought it was a Fender Jazz bass that had the Fender Logo removed. It wasn't until I took the neck off that I found the Shecter Logo stamped on the neck heel...See pic 4. Turns out Schecter started out in the 1970's making replacement body parts not only for Fender but also Gibson and others..

Schecter Guitar Research, or commonly known as just Schecter, is an American guitar manufacturer. The company was founded in 1976 by David Schecter and originally only produced replacement parts for existing guitars from manufacturers such as Fender and Gibson.

Today, the company mass-produces its own line of electric guitars, bass guitars, and steel-string acoustic guitars.

Custom shop days, 1976 - 1983

In 1976, David Schecter opened Schecter Guitar Research, a repair shop in Van Nuys, California.The modest repair shop manufactured replacement guitar necks and bodies, complete pickup assemblies, bridges, pickguards, tuners, knobs, potentiometers, and other miscellaneous guitar parts. Eventually, Schecter Guitar Research offered every part needed to build a complete guitar. It supplied parts to big guitar manufacturers such as Fender and Gibson and to custom repair shops which were building complete guitars out of Schecter parts. By the late 1970s, Schecter offered more than 400 guitar parts, but did not offer any finished instruments.

What a cool Bass Guitar. Not only does it look like it has been around, it plays and sounds like a Pro instrument as well. I had Jeff the Tech go over it completely to insure its ready to Rock for another 40 years...USA Made and super quality vintage parts...I replaced the tuners with relic'd replacements. New ones looked too good on this one. There is the existing screw holes on the back of the headstock that I filled.

The BadAss Bridge is fantastic. I have one on my own Bass. Perfect intonation with these. New Strings and setup perfectly with low action. It can be raised if desired. Truss rod works and its ready to go...

The beat hardshell case I got with comes with the bass as well. It fits well and looks like it has been with this bass a long time. Replaced latches but the handle and hinges are there. The Jimi Hendrix Sticker on it comes with for no extra charge..lol..

An awesome find and its going to make someone very happy when they get it. The lucky winner is to pay $75 shipping for the lower 48..its very heavy..All others please ask...
