Roland SonicCell – Mint / Collector's ConditionI'm offering my Roland SonicCell in true collector's condition. The unit is practically like new, with no scratches, dents, or other signs of use. It is 100% fully functional and works exactly as it should.The biggest strength of the SonicCell is its sound engine, inherited directly from the legendary Roland Fantom-X. It features one of Roland's most refined and versatile synthesis engines, packed with an extensive library of outstanding presets while offering deep programming capabilities for creating your own sounds.Despite its age, the SonicCell is surprisingly easy to use. The display is bright, clear, and intuitive, making navigation straightforward. All patches, system settings, and performance parameters can be edited directly from the front panel. While software editing is naturally faster, Roland did an excellent job designing the interface, making it far more user-friendly than many of their products from the same era.Roland also released an official Editor and Librarian for Windows, making patch creation and sound library management much easier. I successfully used both on macOS through CrossOver Office without any issues.The SonicCell also includes a VSTi plug-in that allows you to control the hardware directly from your DAW. I used it on macOS via AudioGridder together with jBridge running under CrossOver Office. While it's admittedly a bit of a workaround, it performed reliably and made editing sounds within projects very convenient.Most importantly, however, the SonicCell is much more than a preset playback module. Its synthesis engine is exceptionally powerful and remains one of Roland's finest achievements from the Fantom-X generation.It also offers an impressive set of studio features, including:Three independent high-quality effects processors (78 effect types)External audio processing through the onboard effectsDedicated instrument and microphone inputs with built-in preamp+48V phantom power for condenser microphonesUSB audio interface functionality (supported on Windows; Roland never released macOS drivers)Excellent low-noise converters with a full, warm, and musical soundAnother very useful feature is the ability to load your own WAV, MP3, and MIDI files, allowing the SonicCell to function as a reliable backing track player for live performances.I'm selling it only because I simply don't have room for all of my instruments anymore and need to reduce the amount of gear I own. This is one piece I'm genuinely sad to let go, as it's an exceptionally well-designed and great-sounding module. If you're looking for the classic Roland Fantom sound, it's difficult to find a better option at this price.The unit is in collector's condition, fully functional, and ready to use immediately.
