The Soldano SLO Classic isn't being built any more since Mike Soldano sold to Boutique Amps Distribution, but the Classic design lives on in our SLO Replica Amps. We start with an original Soldano Classic SLO design, high gain amplifier, painstakingly hand-built built to original Soldano SLO specifications and then upgrade with often requested options from many players for the original Soldano SLO.
This for the SLO Replica with additional features, DeYoung design transformers, Sovtek power tubes, fully handwired. Ships fully insured for the purchase price. Easy financing through Affirm.
* Price: $1895 for the 50-watt with my DeYoung inspired transformers.
This amp is a Plus model and adds some things that the Soldano Models don't include such as front panel channel switch (no foot switch needed; but can be used as there is a foot switch jack on the rear of the amp - a foot switch with LED indicator light for remote channel switching is included), modified effects loop level that supports "normal guitar effects pedals and stomp boxes", an enhanced depth control on the front panel with much better and deeper bass resonance than the standard SLO depth mod; optional Warren Haynes mod allowing the amplifier to produce a "BEEFER" and thicker frequency pallet at lower gain levels, a warmer clean channel that improves on the "sterile/cold" feel of the original SLO clean channel (still clean and articulate, but with a bit more warmth and character); the SRV mod is designed to scoop the mids on the Clean/Crunch channel ONLY and is supposed to emulate the tonality (frequency pallette) of a Fender at or near maximum volume settings. This is similar to the Decatone clean chnl; a modular power connector (replacing the fixed power cable on the original Soldano models), an external bias feature that allows you to use a DC voltmeter/multi-meter to set the bias of your new tubes without removing the chassis from the cabinet (step-by-step instructions available). Roadies and techs love this feature. Also, the Slave Out which is generally unused and has converted to a foot switchable Solo Boost (standard option - please specify when ordering) for the Overdrive Channel using the level control to adjust the boost volume/level. A single button foot-switch with LED is included with the amplifier for remote channel switching. A second single button foot-switch (no LED function) will be needed to actuate the Solo Boost option.
This amplifier comes loaded with
Heyboer High Definition Output Transformer and Power Transformer. It is available in 100, 50 and 25 watt models. Two switchable channels - a dual mode Clean/Crunch
channel and an Overdrive channel. The Clean/Crunch channel has a toggle
switch to allow the player to select the mode that suits the guitarists' style
the best and a Bright/Normal switch for this channel to add brightness to
the output texture. The Overdrive channel is the same famous overdrive
that made the SLO amplifier design a desired weapon in the world of Rock and
Metal music for over two decades and still today delivering articulate crunch
to "mind altering" levels of thick, luscious distortion and sustain.
The back of the amp features a series effects loop, a solo Boost for increasing
the volume of the overdrive channel for cutting through the mix, and an
impedance selector for matching the amp to your favorite cabinet(s) at 4, 8, or
16 ohms.
Price for this 50 watt model is 1895 and is decribed in detail in this section: It has
two Sovtek 5881 power tubes (25-watts per tube) and biased for that 50-watt
"thump" and feel . Easily upgraded to higher wattage by replacing the transformers (as it is built to 100 watt specs).
* Prices: The 25 watt is 1595. The price of a 50 and 100 watt are $1895 for the 50-watt and $2195 for the 100 watt with my DeYoung inspired transformers.
*Tolex: There is no extra charge for any commonly available Tolex and you can even ship me your own choice of covering to put on the head cabinet. Here is a website to choose your covering: [cedist.com/products/grill_cloth_tolex_piping?filters=Type%3DTolex]
*Footswitch: The footswitch for the channel switching and Solo Boost are included in the price. You can have one dual button (optional choice when choosing the Solo Boost option) or two single button footswitches (standard offering) with LED for channel switch.
*Lead Time: Lead time is typically 4 weeks but may take up to 6 weeks until it ships. It take 80 hours of labor to complete one of these. Extreme care and attention to detail goes into making one of these and is as much of an artform as is is a functional masterpiece.
*Deposit/Financing: You can purchase through Affirm Financing or PayPal Credit financing and finance the entire price, or you can send a deposit via PayPal for 25% of the total price. If paying a deposit, I send a PayPal invoice to your provided email address that allows multiple partial payments after the deposit but the full amount must be paid before the amp is shipped. Every amp is considered a custom build and there will be no refunds but adjustments and repairs are part of the warranty for the first 90 days. After that failed electronic components are replaced for free (excluding tubes, fuses, switches and knobs). Head cabinet, grills and tolex are not warranted after initial receipt and approval.
Here is a review by a recent owner/player
. . . I have wanted to reach back out regarding my experience with the amp. Now that I'm safely out of the honeymoon phase and I've been able to actually test this thing at band volume I can truly appreciate it and report back.
I've had 2 band practices with it. Mind you, I'm 44 years old, worked 10 years for Sam Ash, been a gear nerd my whole life and I know good tones. My lead guitarist has a studio/gear collection that would embarrass most small guitar shops and their inventory. Between my guitarist, my bassist and myself this studio holds 33 Gibson Historic guitars, 30 Marshall cabs, 15 Marshall JCM800 or older original heads, 2 HiWatts, 2 Oranges, 2 5150s, 7 Mesa heads, a Splawn, 3 Engl Steve Morse heads and 4 real, original Soldano SLO heads. All 4 in different coverings, all 100s, all signed by Mike, 1 stock, 3 modded. I'll spare the umpteen rack amps and room full of pedals, combo amps and various guitars.
Last week I took the SLO Plus out and it performed perfectly. This week I brought it and used exclusively my custom built Frankenstein guitar which is essentially parts wise the same as EVHs original partscaster though with my own custom aesthetics. With my Les Paul it can do classic rock right through modern hard rock. With the Charvel style it absolutely nails EVH to the point where guitar illiterate drummer even stopped playing when I kicked into Runnin With the Devil and noted it was the exact tone. 3 cases of whiplash caused. I smiled wide.
But rather than me detail the sound, the enjoyment, the utter amazing results I'll sum up the resultant amplifier you created with what my lead guitarist told me Saturday night after he played my amp. A man that has gigged and said that the best tone he ever heard was 3 Soldanos dialed slightly different to get a fuller sound.
When I asked "give me your honest opinion....you own 4 original SLOs....4 amps worth 20 grand combined....how does mine compare...is it close?"
Him: "no. Yours is better."
True story. If anyone I know is an expert it's him. And it absolutely is an amazing amplifier. Short of your Trilogy version. I can't imagine ever needing another amp. It's just that good.
A Brit-Tone fan, customer and friend for life,
Chris K.
