The STAR maple snare drum features a unique shell construction that produces a sound distinct from conventional maple shells.The shell is built with a 2mm-thick "core ply" at the center, sandwiched between 1.5mm-thick maple plies on both the inner and outer sides. This combination of a thick core ply and outer/inner plies provides exceptional structural integrity, allowing for a 5mm-thin shell that delivers the sonic character typically associated with much thicker solid-ply (single-ply) shells.The newly designed, compact bridge-style lugs minimize the contact area with the shell.
