About this listing
Up for sale is a 1960 LG-3 body with a 1965 Gibson LG-3 neck. All work was done by Joel Whitehead, tech from Norman's Rare Guitars. I purchased the guitar from him.The action is low and it plays great. It has a 1 11/16 nut width, not the smaller 1 5/8 nut width. It comes with a new Gibson LG size case. So yes, this guitar has a 1965 guitar neck on a 1960 body as per Joel Whitehead. Once again he did all the work. The reason for the neck swap was that the original neck had been significantly compromised. All is well now — the guitar plays great and the intonation is spot on.The guitar has also had a replacement maple bridge plate made for it, along with the original bridge being professionally re-glued. It still retains its original frets, which have recently been leveled, re-crowned, and dressed. It looks like there was a lower back crack repaired at some point in its life, and the repair is solid. The guitar also retains its original 1965 tuners. As you’ll notice from the photos, the guitar does have plenty of little nicks, chips, dings, dents, and other superficial blemishes throughout, consistent with its age and honest play wear. Thanks for looking and I only ship to the lower 48 states.
