This guitar is in excellent condition and is highly recommended for collectors. The WSG finish stands for “White Solid Gold” — an ultra-rare and luxurious color used only for the first production run of this model. That initial batch also included another rare finish: BBV (Black Blue Velvet). The WSG finish features a pure white solid color with a soft gold undercoat, giving it a unique, luxurious, and elegant appearance. Due to the high production cost and complexity, this color was discontinued after the first release. While the TN-SPL model has been reissued a few times since, no reissue has ever featured this finish — only Natural and Sunburst have been offered. This model appears in Fender catalogs starting in 2002, and through the 2004 catalog it is listed in three finishes: Blue, White, and Natural. I have not been able to confirm the 2005 catalog, but in the 2006 catalog, the Blue and White finishes were discontinued, leaving Sunburst as the only listed option. (Although not shown in the catalog, I believe the Natural finish continued to be available even after 2006.)Based on the serial number, this particular instrument was manufactured around 1997–1998. However, since it does not appear in catalogs from that period, it is likely that it was originally released as an off-catalog (non-catalog) model, possibly in limited quantities. Due to its popularity, it appears to have been officially added to the catalog around 2002. Later, likely due to production cost considerations, the Blue and White finishes were discontinued around 2004, and from that point onward, only Sunburst was listed in the catalogs.I have handled this model many times in the past, and for the Blue and White finishes, most examples I have seen were marked Crafted in Japan with an “A + 6-digit” serial number. The above explanation is based on online research and my own hands-on experience, so please understand that some points cannot be stated with absolute certainty.Product Description: A lightweight, resonant Thinline Telecaster with a chambered ash body and distinctive f-hole.
