Introduced during the 1990s, the original American-made Pro Junior quickly earned a following among players who valued its responsive sound and uncomplicated operation. This USA-made example features traditional tweed covering, brown grille cloth and a chrome control panel, giving it the familiar appearance of Fender's celebrated vintage amplifiers.Producing 15 watts through a single 10-inch speaker, the Pro Junior uses a pair of EL84 power valves and two 12AX7 preamp valves to deliver a warm, lively and expressive sound. At lower volume settings it offers clear, articulate tones with a pleasing natural warmth, while increasing the volume introduces progressively richer compression, grit and overdrive. With only Volume and Tone controls, there is very little to distract from the interaction between the guitar, amplifier and player. The result is an amp particularly well suited to blues, roots, classic rock and recording applications where natural valve response is prized. This pre-owned example shows signs of age and use, including wear and discolouration to the tweed covering, some marks around the cabinet edges and visible wear to the control panel. Its compact dimensions make it convenient for home playing, studio work and smaller performances, while its deceptively substantial output gives it plenty of presence when turned up. A charming example of Fender's minimalist approach to valve amplification, offering considerable character from a refreshingly simple design.
