EarthQuaker Devices Dirt Transmitter Fuzz Driver LTD EffectpedalHey, Pedalero! Doesn't it get on your nerves that everything is constantly supposed to be clean? Clean the house! Clean the car! The dishes! Don't think dirty thoughts… And so on and so forth. "Stay clean" seems to be everyone's motto. Well—today, we aim to put an end to all that. You heard right. It’s time to roll up your sleeves. Because things are about to get dirty. We’re talking dirt under your fingernails, oil stains on flannel shirts, and carpets that no one will ever be able to get clean again. And where is the source of all this sinister filth? Well, right here: EQD has brought the legendary Dirt Transmitter™ Fuzz Driver back to life!Yes; you didn't mishear. In the history of EarthQuaker Devices, the Dirt Transmitter was the second of many remarkable fuzz pedals to emerge from Jamie Stillman’s workshop—and to this day, it remains one of his finest and most intriguing creations. Many renowned musicians and a devoted fanbase have sworn their allegiance to the Dirt Transmitter. It was a shame that this exceptional pedal was unavailable for so long. Luckily, that is all changing now! Its layout couldn't be simpler: Level, Fuzz, Tone, and Bias—this pedal is truly easy to use, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a setting where it doesn't absolutely rip. So—put away the hand sanitizer and dive headfirst into this glorious sonic mud bath. The sweet—or rather, dirty—secret behind this pedal lies in its silicon transistors, which offer a crisp high-end response and more gain than typical germanium transistors. This yields a biting sharpness and an overall rounder sound that doesn't collapse under heavy distortion. You can dial in a gain-heavy setting on the Dirt Transmitter and leave it engaged permanently to craft a fantastic, commanding tone that really cuts through the mix. Its tonal spectrum ranges from overdrive to fuzz, without the sound ever losing its character. That is the power of silicon. When tailoring the perfect fuzz sound with the Dirt Transmitter, the Bias knob plays the decisive role. This control effectively starves the transistors of current, thereby altering the gating characteristics of the sound. This places the full spectrum at your disposal—from various "Velcro fuzz" textures to tones reminiscent of analog synthesizers. When you turn the Bias knob all the way to the right, the transistors are correctly biased. If you back it off slightly, the fuzz sound becomes smoother and creamier, with more pronounced gating. The Tone knob allows you to shape the high-frequency content of the signal as well as its overall harmonic contour. Turn it to the right when you need a brilliant, cutting sound for solos and lead riffs. Turn it to the left when you want rich sustain but fewer highs. And now, a word to our low-frequency friends: We know that even within the most well-behaved bassist lurks a dirt-loving rascal just itching to get out. Does that sound like you? Then you should integrate this pedal into your effects arsenal *pronto*, for it truly isn't afraid to get its hands dirty—from adding a proverbial scoop of dirt to your clean base tone, through dark and brooding fuzz effects, all the way to total sonic debauchery.Every Dirt Transmitter Fuzz Driver is handcrafted in Akron, Ohio, USA, and then beamed across the globe directly into your pedalboard.
