Why is this one "Made to Order"?
While I have sold enough of this configuration as a special order to warrant giving it a standard listing all it's own, I don't normally build these comparatively rare configurations in advance.
-----
Do I need to modify anything?
NO! I've designed this setup so that it drops right in as a direct replacement, and is fully compatible with your existing factory cavities, control plates, and knobs.
I custom assemble CTS 1Meg pots using a CTS Metric 8mm mounting bushing and wiper shaft (CTS doesn't even make this variation in the Metric line!) so that you do NOT have to drill out the existing 8mm holes in your control plate. These drop right in.
Because the Squier or Fender Japan Bass VI body's cavities aren't "connected", this harness comes in two modules. This is because one has to pass wires through holes from one cavity to another before components can be connected. Everything is as pre-wired as it can be. During installation, you just pass the two wires from the switch assembly down to the controls assembly and make the final connections while you're already in there connecting your pickups. Fully illustrated instructions included.

The new pots are split-shaft - are my OE solid-shaft knobs going to fit?
CTS doesn't offer 1Meg Audio Pots in the CTS "Metric" line, so I custom modify these myself. This means I can set this up with the correct 1Meg Audio taper, but in the CTS Metric pot body so it mounts to the factory Squier/Fender Japan control plate with no drilling. As CTS Metric pot shafts are only available in split-shaft, I include brass conversion sleeves so your factory solid-shaft knobs will fit perfectly.

I want this...but I want it different.
I can customize this circuit if you need something a bit different than standard. For example...
Maybe you don't really use the strangle switch. I could make that be a Phase Reverse for one of the pickups (typically the middle), or a Series/Parallel, or some other function. (No charge for switch functional changes.)
Maybe you want it a bit darker, favoring the Bass tone - I can use 250k pots instead of 1Meg. No charge difference - just let me know.

No...REALLY different.
There's a guy in Australia that makes custom plates for these. See the last few photos on this listing.
(Check out his shop - he's got tons of great stuff for offsets and more!! https://reverb.com/shop/herad)
They work out to about $50 shipped, and take a couple of weeks to get - but they allow modifications you couldn't otherwise do. You could opt for a 5-way blade switch instead of three individual on/off switches, and then the additional slide switch position could be to flip the neck on in any position - which would give you the all-three on, and Neck+Bridge combinations. Or make that a Phase-Reverse, or a Strangle.
He also makes a plate for a 3-way toggle switch, which we could wire up as any two pickups in a traditional 1, 2, or 1+2 configuration, and then the slide switch would be for the 3rd pickup. Or he's got one with just the 3-way toggle, if you were going to drop one of your pickups.
You could do a 4-way blade switch for a Johnny Marr Jag style Bridge, Bridge+Neck (Parallel), Neck, Neck+Bridge (Series) - and then put the Middle pickup on the single slide switch.
The point is - if you've got something special in mind that you'd like to do outside of the traditional setup, just shoot me a message and I'll let you know what it will take.
That's why I'm here...I build the stuff no one else does.

[APRIL 2025 Update on the custom plates from Herad in Australia]
I just got some of these badass plates in my hands for a few custom orders. (These were my first order for these custom plates.)
- They are TOP NOTCH. No scratches, no streaks, no sub-standard chroming!
- They are actually a touch thicker than the OE Squier plates, so they line up with the pickguard even better than the OE plates!
- NO, I didn't get dinged for a tariff! (So no raise in cost.)
- Herad offers combined shipping, so I'm probably just going to order several of these at a time to keep on hand, which will allow me to lower the cost of these plates. After my final landed-cost of these plates, they're going to shake out closer to $38 than $50 for the add-on. I'll update the images in this listing shortly.
- He's got a few new variations as well (Blade switch w/o slide switch, etc.) I'll add those options to the photos as well.
