1956 Danelectro Commando - branded Airline.

If you're reading this you must know what it is. One of the most sought after harmonica amps ever made with good reason. No one knows what amp Little Walter used but one of the men who played with him described an amp that could only have been a Commando. Though most likely Walter couldn't have told you what he played through and for gigs he played through the vocal PA which were tube driven at the time. The Commando was in fact designed as a PA, thus the split multi-speaker cabs. The Commando also happens to be killer for guitar as well. Dan Auerbach (Black Keys) has one in his rig, for example.

This one is in extraordinary condition. See photos. All NOS tubes, all original speakers, transformers etc. There is just the right amount of patina on the covering. Just the right amount of aging with no stains, cigarette burns, or grime. One small nick in the front of one cab. Electronically it is perfect.

Recently serviced by Austin Vintage Guitars where it was described as "a unicorn" due to it's being unbelievably quiet at idle.  A couple of leaky caps were replaced, new leather handle to replace the original which had perished, and new speaker cable between the cabinets. The old one was dried out, unreliable, and too long to be practical as an instrument amp that does not need to be spread like a PA. The baffles are perfect. The cabs even have all the original dowels!

Comes with a Tuki cover included.

I've used the amp for harmonica at Antone's and it performed flawlessly with really incredibly great tone. Warmth, crunch, bottom and an authenticity to the tone that is beautiful. A guitar player I know tried it out and was totally blown away. He just fell in love with it.

I have several vintage amps and the Dano has just been sitting in my studio with it's friends. I originally put the amp up for sale to help pay for my dog's chemo.  Very sadly she didn't make it.  I still have the vet bills on the credit card to pay.

MAKE AN OFFER but please nothing insulting like 60% less on the price I already lowered dramatically. Seriously.

This amp is in functionally perfect condition with no issues ready to go. In fact it is genuinely exceptional.  Literally plug in and play. You might find cheaper but you won't find better.  No nasty surprises with this one.  Maker an offer. You know you want to.
