Overview
Before the introduction of the Gibson Custom Shop Historic line of official reissues, Gibson began producing replicas of their late '50s "Burst" Les Pauls as early as 1982. Over time, these replicas became closer to what would eventually be released in 1993 as the first Custom Shop Historic '59 Les Paul Reissue. The period from 1990 - 1992 represent the closest analogs to Gibson's early Custom Shop models, but were still produced in small batches for various retailers, and feature a variety of specifications and appointments.
