Nekotronics SL4000 MkII SSL Buss Compressor 2024

Selling my incredible Nekotronics SL4000 Mk2, a hand-built reproduction of the legendary SSL E-Series bus compressor. This unit is in excellent condition and has been used exclusively in a smoke-free private studio. I am the original owner, and it was a dream piece for me.

I was in regular contact with Gray (the engineer behind Nekotronics) during the build, and his attention to detail and insistence on the right components was very apparent. The wait was long as he couldn't find some important parts, and I wasn't disappointed when it arrived.

The reason for selling is simple: as my mixing style has evolved, I've found a different compressor (the Stam SA4000 MKI you see in the photo) fits my workflow on the mixbuss more intuitively. However, the Neko's aggressive, snappy character is absolutely unmatched on a drum buss or for parallel compression. I lean towards a diode bridge comp for my drum buss these days, and I try not to keep any gear unused.
