This guitar plays as good as it looks. It's museum quality, craftsmanship at its best. And this guitar deserves to be in a prized collection.
Summary: The Voodoo Custom is the flagship guitar for the New Orleans Guitar Company. This instrument looks incredible and it plays like it looks! According to their website, this instrument was designed around the 25” scale, 24 fret, and 12” radius because it offers “one of the most playable surfaces, but it also lends itself to the sheer versatility of this instrument”. This guitar has a neck that is book-matched with opposing grain and neck-thru construction. The neck carve of the Voodoo is based on classic guitar designs but given a more refined approach at the shoulder and a softer roll at the boards edge. The body of the guitar is chambered for increased mid response and topped with a ¾” thick carved tone wood. According to the New Orleans Guitar Company, this instrument would sell for around $5300 today if you ordered it new.
Body: Book-matched maple burl on black limba.
Neck: This guitar has a cocobolo fretboard , headplate & details. This instrument also has a bone nut with a nut width of 1.69” and medium jumbo frets.
Pickups/Hardware: This guitar has a DiMarzio custom set of pickups (191 in the neck and 192 F-spaced in the bridge) with a 3-way switch and a toggle switch. The neck is wired series/parallel at the mini toggle swich. This instrument also features a tone pros bridge and grover 18.1 tuning machines.
Cosmetics: This instrument is truly beautiful – it looks awesome in person and the photos look really great too. The knobs on this guitar are carved wooden knobs.
Playability: This guitar is very easy to play and it features a wide fretboard and lots of tone. The frets are in great condition with lots of life left to go. This guitar plays with no buzz, no fretting out and wonderful tone all the way up and down the neck.
