Even if you follow the music and video releases of YouTuber/electronic instrumental musician Bad Snacks, you may not know that she spent nearly her whole childhood studying violin. But what happens when she takes that classical background and funks it up with some unexpected pedal action?
When Bad Snacks performs live, she blends her string-section roots with her more recent successes in the world of beatmaking and sound production by pairing her electric violin (an NS Design NXT5a) with some personal synth and pedal favorites.
So what's on her signal chain? And more importantly, what does it sound like? Watch the video above to get a taste of some skronky, saucy, money Bad Snacks tones.
- Organelle by Critter & Guitari: "This is one of my workhorse pedals. I consider it a pedal in this context, at least. This is what I use for every single one of my shows."
- Meris Enzo (+ MIDI footswitch): "I use this for the pitch shifter. A lot."
- Walrus Audio Iron Horse V2: "It's a pretty simple distortion, but what I like about it is that it has three different modes of compression."
- Empress ParaEq
- Empress Echosystem
- Strymon Zuma power supply
