This week's Fess' Find is another wooden modular system, the Ellitone Osage Modular Synthesizer by Ellitone Instruments. Ellitone is a small outfit in Missouri that's gaining a reputation for making incredible synthesizers encased in wood. Most of their new releases get announced on their Instagram, and luckily for us, we get to offer these fantastic handcrafted synths on sale from time to time. It's a quirky synth that's sure to turn heads.
Handcrafted with quarter sewn oak, spalted maple, and black walnut hardwood panels and case. The dual oscillator dual wavefolder module is a standout feature, boasting vintage analog oscillator designs based on the Buchla 258 circuit. The oscillators offer everything from sweet delicate tones to chaos. Plus, the dedicated wavefolder circuit on each oscillator takes the triangle waveform output and transforms it into a harmonically rich and complex variable wave shape controlled by knob or CV input.
But that's not all, the MIDI to CV interface and stereo mixer module are equally impressive, offering four high-quality, digitally controlled analog channels of audio input and summing. The quad envelope quad VCA module is no slouch either, featuring four VCA channels controlled by four internal envelope generators.
Now, I know what you're thinking - how much does a system like this cost? Well, by the time this piece was published, this particular system was no longer for sale. But fear not! Be sure to follow Ellitone Instruments shop to be alerted as soon as they list.
