Dave Smith Instruments Teases Hybrid Sequential X Synth Ahead of SUPERBOOTH

Update: As of today, full details on the Sequential Prophet X are live. You can watch the video below for an explanation on what this hybrid powerhouse has in store from Dave himself.

Later this week, SUPERBOOTH18 will kick off in Berlin, and already some of the most innovative and exciting names in the synth and electronic music-making space have started to release details on the new products they have in store for the show. Supposedly "leaked" images and teaser videos are making the rounds though synth forums and social channels, with a new instrument from analog synth pillar Dave Smith Instruments ranking as one of the most intriguing yet.

Dubbed the Sequential X, full specs on this new DSI keyboard are scarce, but based on a teaser video released by the California firm late last week, as well as a product image that has been circulating, we can glean a few key details.

For one, this instrument appears to be a hybrid sampler and synthesizer as is evident from the organic piano tones that lead off the video as well as the oscillator knobs on the control surface. The visible mixer section includes knobs for multiple instruments and multiple oscillators, indicating that you'll be able to mix tones from a variety of both sampled and synthesized sources.

Additionally, a logo in the top right corner of the instrument reveals the involvement of 8DIO—a firm that produces sample libraries for the popular Kontakt VST and others.

Stay tuned for more details on this instrument and all the other releases coming out of SUPERBOOTH later this week.
