A trio of the gear industry's exciting young brands are joining forces.
Today, D'Angelico—the vintage-minded guitar brand revived in 2011—has bought Supro and Pigtronix, which have themselves been intertwined for years. Pigtronix's Dave Koltai bought and revived the Supro brand back in 2013, while D'Angelico and Supro have more recently shared marketing efforts.
"We have always had a deep appreciation for Supro’s products and brand," D’Angelico Chairman John Ferolito Jr. says in a press release. "When the opportunity to acquire the brand arose, we didn’t think twice."
In that same release, Koltai adds, "The acquisition of Supro and Pigtronix by D’Angelico creates a trifecta. It’s a perfect fit, and I am thrilled to be able to continue making new gear for musicians around the world."
Koltai will stay on as D'Angelico's chief technology officer, where he'll continue to development and design of Supro amps and Pigtronix effects alongside the D'Angelico team.
While no detailed plans for new products are available yet, D'Angelico is telling customers to look out for exciting news in 2021.
