This week's Fess' Find is the Böhm Digital Drums DD-1, also known as "The German LinnDrum". Made in Germany in 1983, this 13-bit digital drum machine was originally a DIY kit produced by Dr Böhm, which later changed its name to Böhm.
The DD-1 features 25 different digital drum samples that pass through an impressive-sounding filter. The punchy sound can be programmed into the Böhm's "humanized" internal sequencer that is groovy beyond belief and capable of more dynamic, complex drum patterns than other machines of its time. While the Böhm has been endearingly dubbed the "German LinnDrum," its sounds are actually closer to those of an LM1, DMX, or Drumulator. This particular listing has recently been tested, and the device works flawlessly. It’s even custom-made with wooden housing and buttons that are different from a conventional DD-1, using parts borrowed from an old Böhm organ that contains the same architecture. Everything is stereo, and it comes with eight single outputs, as well as a headphone output.
The seller notes that their open to reasonable offers and they have others available in their shop Kraut Automaten.
