The Dominator II from Aphex Systems, Ltd is a multiband stereo peak limiter designed for a wide range of audio applications. Using multiband techniques combined with new patented circuitry, the perception of limiting action has been significantly reduced, especially when compared to conventional limiters. This means that greater limiting depth is possible, resulting in greater volume while maintaining audio quality. At virtually any limiting depth, the studio Dominator is free from hole punching, dullness, and most other sonic degradations that typically result from limiters. The Dominator II in its role as a peak overshoot protection limiter is undetectable online while completely preventing peak levels from exceeding a user-adjustable output level. In addition, the desired limiting effects which are audio density, increased dynamism etc… are already available with the Dominator II.
