possibility to chain several D-108 and it’s expandable.

This unit is in great shape overall (with signs of use), screen with excellent contrast and luminosity, and it sounds too. Very clear. I have tested extensively the capabilities.

Coming with:

  • IDE hard drive
Formatted, it is 10.2 GB free space which is 32h19m05s of recording in 44.1 kHz (less in 48 kHz)
  • the key (!) to change hard drive
  • original Owner’s manual + Quick operation guide in English
  • a second version of the manual in French.

100% stock. The previous owner took great care of it. I noticed on the power board a factory modification on traces, it's not an accidental damage.

What have I done before sale?

  • Tested navigation, recording and play all tracks
  • Open and check the unit, 4 bars air dust removal
  • Open the remote/panel, 4 bars air dust removal inside + clean of the front panel and buttons.
  • Formatted the disk in 8 tracks mode

It’s a bit under the radars, but if you are searching for it, you know what I mean.

In 98 the computer was replacing this equipment, but today, if you want to work without a computer or benefit from signal processing — it’s a good choice, still the professional standards.

this equipment

The only minus, in my opinion, is the fact it is making a tiny bit of sound when it’s ON. Of course, you don’t hear it in the recording, but you need a separate space for microphones.

It is not due to a default, you find this inconvenience in most studio gear.

This said, the technology here is really interesting as a direct-to-disk. Which is a good in-between full analog and full digital setup.

Super solid and stable.

It’s part of the family Fostex D-160, D-80, D-90.

The power cable has a little default (solder iron?), so I include a new one (black). But the original works of course.

I also include as a gift: 2U patch bay with 6.3 jack and RCA (x18), black color. It makes a nice matching interface. Made by SCV audio (vintage French brand).
