Gibson 1977 Bicentennial Thunderbird Bass Amazing Vintage Sound and Look With No Headstock Repairs

This is a beautiful vintage 1977 Bicentennial Gibson Thunderbird Bass in Sunburst.  It was made in the Kalamazoo, Michigan Gibson Guitar Factory in 1977, the serial number is 06240236.  You can check out the guitar dating project for verification, just make sure to search for Gibsons made 1977 or earlier.

It is in excellent condition.  It plays like a dream, with low action, amazing warm tone and very long sustain.  The bass holds its tuning very well.  No fret buzz.  Very rare to find a sunburst with no neck break!

Cosmetically and structurally this bass is in great condition for its age.  It is super clean and looks like it has not been played a ton.  The frets have no wear from the strings and look perfect.  The fret board also is very clean.  The body has very minimal nicks, nothing major.  No belt buckle rash on the back.  The wood finish is great, no worn down areas.  The neck has never been broken or repaired.  The electronics are super clean.  It has had the top strap button moved behind the back, as almost all of these vintage Thunderbirds have.  The phillips head screw on the G string tuning machine / schaller has been replaced with a flat head screw.  This does not affect the tuning or function, it is tight and works perfectly.  There are a few very small spots of rust on the very tops of the E and A string tuning machines.  This could probably be cleaned up, either way, does not affect the functionality.  

It comes with its original hard shell case.  The case is in good vintage condition.  Two of the case buckle / locks have been replaced.  There are some super cool vintage Michigan stickers and random red writing on one side.  It is structurally great and 100% functional.

I recently bought this bass from a super cool collector to use on an album.  I really wanted that vintage thunderbird sound.  It worked perfectly for the sound I was going for.  This is one of the coolest basses I've ever played.  It sounds amazing through an amp or tracked direct.  Now that I'm done with the record I've got to thin out my studio gear to pay for pressing.  This beauty belongs in a studio or a collection.  I will stick to my old beater '73 Rick for live shows.  I can't afford anything this nice for tour!
