Here is the perfect opportunity to custom-build the Wurlitzer that you've been dreaming of! The Chicago Electric Piano Company has a constant collection of Wurltizer 206A pianos for sale which make excellent candidates for restoration and customization. What makes the 206A great is that in most cases these pianos are either coming out of decades of storage or are otherwise used for the most introductory music courses. This means that these pianos are typically in mint or near mint condition before we begin our expert restoration services.

All of the pianos in the Wurltizer 200-series family are essentially the same instrument. The main difference are speaker and amplifier configurations. This means that these 206A pianos can be easily converted to 200A specifications or even upgraded to a 214A style speaker base (subject to availability). With only a few modifications we can turn any of these 206A pianos in the 200-series piano that you've been dreaming of.

What is included in the base listing price?

This piano will receive our complete "Rebirth" level of restoration services and will play as good or likely better than the day that it left the Wurltizer factory. (Please see our website for more details about our restoration processes).
• Action Overhaul: New springs throughout action assembly. Action centers are cleaned, lubricated, and inspected for smooth response. Action felts are replaced unless in instances when we can guarantee that they are in mint condition.
• Key Bed: All keys have been leveled and the sharps were set to the proper height. The key bed itself is regulated with the action assembly for an even textbook 13/32" key dip across all keys.
• Action Setup: The action is regulated for ideal lost motion, let-off, and check-off distances. The action plays evenly from bass to treble with ideal dynamic range across the keys.
• Electronics: The amplifier is re-capped with premium capacitors, biased and serviced to reduce signal to noise ratio. The stock 206A amplifier is serviced with 200A specs including vibrato and aux output.
• Tuning & Voicing: All of our pianos receive a two-pass tuning and voicing before shipping.

What are the most popular upgrades?
• Conversion to 200A Specifications (w/ Legs & Sustain Pedal)
• MIDI System Upgrade --Wurlitzers action is our favorite for optical MIDI!
• Custom Cosmetics
• Warneck Research EP200A Amplifier Upgrades
• Custom Built All-Tube Amplifier Upgrades
• Speaker Upgrades
• "Suitcase" Style Removable Speaker Base for Easier Transport

Lead Times: Please contact us for an estimated turnaround time for your custom built Wurlitzer. We range from 2-6 weeks depending on the extent of the restoration and the current queue of instruments in our inventory. A down payment of ~50% is required to hold any specific instrument for restoration.

Sound Sample Note: We can often send you a sound sample of the upcoming 206A that we've decided to restore. The link to our soundcloud is technically a 106P (200-era) that highlights one of our custom-designed tube amplifiers (single ended EL84 design). Sure, we dialed up a bit of grit on that recording, but I think you'll enjoy the listen!

Domestic Shipping: Please contact us for shipping options (Piano Movers vs. Freight) and ETA estimates.

International shipping: Please contact us directly for a quote before purchase and we will update the price accordingly. The price quoted is a rough ballpark and prices will vary depending on your location.

We are happy to welcome you by our shop to demo an instrument in person. Feel free to contact us to set up a time.
