Gibson Pat Martino Custom Shop Signature The Gibson Custom Shop Pat Martino Signature Thinline Archtop guitar was desigen d and produced at the Gibson Nashville Custom Shop a collaboration between the legendary jazz guitarist and Gibson's master builders to create a "form following function" instrument. Design and Rarity:The Pat Martino model was designed to bridge the gap between a Les Paul and an ES-335, offering a warm, resonant tone in a smaller, lighter, and feedback-resistant package. It has a more pointed Florentine carve to the single cut-out, as well as F-holes for the resonance of a hollow body. It is considered a rare and sought-after instrument in the vintage/used market. As a tribute to the jazz guitarist, this instrument is characterized as a slightly oversized Les Paul-style body, featuring a chambered mahogany body that is capped with a beautiful book-matched carved flamed maple top in Heritage Cherry Sunburst, and is accented with gold hardware. It features a tapered headstock, so the strings travel a straight line from the stop tailpiece to the tuners. An ebony fingerboard helps provide clearly defined separation between notes. This is a very nice guitar, to hold, to play, and to look at.Technical Details: Production Years: Production runs from roughly 1998 (pre-production/prototypes) to 2006. This example was produced in 1999.Body Construction: A chambered mahogany body (hollowed out from a single piece) with a carved highly flamed maple top. Ivory binding around body and neck. Dimensions: Featured a 13 11/16" to 14 1/2" lower bout width and a 1 -5/8" body depth.Hardware & Electronics: Originally equipped with two '57 Classic humbuckers, gold hardware, 2 volume and 2 tone controls, and Schaller mini tuning machines. Signature SpecificationsThe signature specifications for this Custom Shop model include: Neck: One-piece mahogany neck with a custom rounded "C" profile designed specifically for Pat Martino. Fingerboard: Solid ebony with a compound radius. No inlays on the fretboard for a very clean look. Fret markers are on the binding on the top of the fretboard. Headstock: a straight-pull "snakehead" style peghead with Gibson inlay and Pat Martino Custom truss rod cover.Scale Length: 24.75 inches with 22 medium jumbo frets.Finish: Heritage Cherry Sunburst with tortoise shell pickguard.Original Components: The guitar comes with a Gibson Custom Art & Historic hard case. Condition of the InstrumentThis is now a 25 year-old guitar, and it wears its age well. The finish is solid, no checking. There are a few small surface finish scrapes that I hope can be seen in the photographs. There is virtually no wear on the back and front, some small swirls on the sides and headstock, and one discoloration in the binding at the bottom.This beautiful guitar will be well packaged for transport.While it comes with the original locking hardshell case, there is no COA or other case candy with this guitar.
