2007 Fender Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster, Olympic White, fitted with Custom Shop Fat ’50s and wiring loomBeautiful guitar and great player. Very good condition. Resonant alder body, one-piece soft V maple neck with 9.5” radius fingerboard and comfortable medium-jumbo frets. Good intonation and in tune all over. Frets not worn. Fully working tremelo unit. Professionally checked over and set up. Fitted with Fender Vintage Nickle .010-.046s.I found the stock Tex-Mex pickups thin and brittle, so upgraded to a set of rich and warm Fender Custom Shop Fat ’50s Stratocaster pickups and wiring loom. These pickups were so popular around 2012 they were used in the American Standard Stratocaster. The FCS Fat '50s and loom in the guitar are from the prewired and loaded pickguard FCS used to sell. (See receipt for FCS Fat ’50s prewired and loaded pickguard in the images.) This was installed by simply connecting the output to the jack socket and the earth to the tremelo springs in the back of the guitar. (In the stock FCS wiring loom, the middle pickup is RWRP (reverse-wound, reverse polarity) for noiseless operation in 5-way selector switch positions 2 and 4. And the bridge pickup is connected to Tone Control 2, along with the middle pickup. Further details and reviews of guitar and electronics can be found online.)The electronics were actually removed as one piece from the FCS parchment pickguard, and slotted straight into the Jimmie Vaughan Strat’s white ’50s pickguard, while retaining its creamy white pickup covers, control knobs and switch tip, and the original fixing screws, to preserve the guitar’s aesthetic integrity.So, this most excellent Mexico-built Jimmie Vaughan guitar shares the same pickups and components as the more expensive Custom Shop model! Thing is, I’m just a clumsy Les Paul player and retired now. I hardly ever get time to play anyway and this just never gets played.So this lovely guitar is wasted here and looking for an appreciative new home.Occasional light home use only, in pet- and smoke-free environment.Unable to show up in the photos, three of the tiniest surface ‘dinks’ on the top shoulder edge of the guitar (beneath where your forearm rests), and another on the back of the upper horn. And to the front of the headstock, the lacquer is slightly opaque in a small area about 25 x 10 mm, below the top E ferrule, and one about 35 x 13 mm, below the G. Curious but barely noticeable and entirely superficial.
