Clarinet in Bb, Selmer Depose Series 9, with the serial number Z6130, manufactured in 1977. Made of ebony, with 20 keys and 7 rings (20/7, Full Boehm system).
The instrument is old and in the past was played a lot, but hasn't been played in a long time. It wasn't regularly overhauled, and as a consequence it has gaps and leaks. Shows signs of usage and some scratches, which are completely normal considering the age and time of playing this instrument has (see photos).
Even though it’s not a clarinet with the most common modern mechanics, it’s surely one with good strong quality wood and remaining components.
Some jambs, corks and felts might be missing or in need to to be changed; the pads and springs are worn out; which is normal, given the usage the instrument had in the past and the fact that it hasn’t been played in years. The rings are also a little bit unbalanced.
The instrument is fine, without any major problem and currently playing. However, needs a complete overhaul in order to be able to play in its best conditions, because the lack of maintenance had as a consequence leaks, gaps and some imbalances that don’t allow it to play to its full potential.
The clarinet is being sold with the case, which is the original one from the instrument.
The instrument is being sold because it’s not being played anymore by its owner.
