Clarinet in Bb, Selmer Depose Centered Tone, with the serial number R2291, manufactured in 1958. Made of ebony, with 19 keys and 7 rings (19/7).

The instrument is old and in the past was played a lot, but hasn’t been played in a long time. It wasn’t always carefully treated nor regularly overhauled, and as a consequence it has gaps, leaks, some scratches and other issues that can be seen in the photos.

Even though it’s not a clarinet with the most common modern mechanics, it’s surely one with strong and good quality wood and remaining components.

The clarinet’s upper and lower joints are fully complete when it comes to its keys and remaining main parts.

It’s only missing some jambs, as well as corks and felts; the pads and springs are very worn out; which is normal, given the usage the instrument had in the past and the fact that it hasn’t been played in years. The rings are also very unbalanced.

The instrument does not have any major problem. However, it’s clarly in need of a complete overhaul in order to be able to play to its quality again, because the lack of maintenance had as a consequence too many leaks, gaps and imbalances that don’t allow it to play decently.

The clarinet is being sold with the case, which is the original one from the instrument.
