D36 is super rare and super useful mic - just ask Led Zeppelin:-) No switchbox included but comes with mating connector and cable with 2 XLRs which enables you to change patterns on a mixing console (I´ll tell you how to do it if you don´t know). Optical state you may see on photos, technically it is in perfect state. Both capsules working with full spectrum fat sound.
Famed as kick mic but excellect to capture a double bass, bass amp, tuba or trombone etc.. Bi-directional position proximity effect can do wonders.
Dual capsule design (actually 2 D12 capsules) provides four directional characteristics: omni, bi-directional, cardioid and two (front or rear) and a lots of in between them.
It is not by chance that it was the favorite microphone for these instruments in almost all legendary recordings of Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and most famous bands that have recorded at Olympic studios in their heyday. Eddie Kramer promotes the still as the best microphone bass he has ever used.
They are very rare due to the fact that it was made only between 1958 and 1961 in small quantities exclusively for the European market studio / broadcast. Most were made by AKG Vienna and some AKG Munich.
It is a jewel of any studio, useful tool and good investment in one (prices go only higher through years).
