Pioneer Ex-9000 Dynamic Frequency Expander w/ Tape Loop & digital Display. Works & Sounds great.
"Nice little dynamic range expander from Pioneer made from 1985 to 1999, the EX-9000 is similar to the dBx range of range expanders.
The Pioneer EX-9000 dynamic range expander uses stereo VCA's, so the channels are independent.
It is a three band unit, the bands are independently adjustable and it has two processing styles based on the music you are putting through it. The choices are "hard" and "soft.""
Great sounding unit, with a great display. Provides controllable expansion levels in 3 separate frequency ranges to provide more natural sound. Input level controllable with 0dB and -6dB input level switches. Hard and soft Music Character switches allow adaptation of the expansion parameters to the style of music. Switches for Expander and Tape Monitor, to allow tape monitor circuit to play through the expander.
Unswitched AC Outlet on the back, along with voltage selector. AC power cable appears to have been replaced. Otherwise there are a flew scratches and scuffs, but this expander works as it should. Please see pictures.
The expansion section has an interesting little display - you can see an example of the display at this site:
