G&L Vintage 1981 G&L L-2000 Active 4 String Bass

Up for sale is my original purchased 1981 G&L L2000 active bass. Please look the pictures over this bass has been used but well cared for. I guarantee you will not find another like it. Here’s why, I had the original neck replaced in 1983 (they tended to warp) by Howard Needham luthier in upstate NY. I had him copy a friends’ 1964 Fender Precision neck, using highly flamed maple, the pics show the exceptional work.

 I year later I sent all the metal parts to a friends father who owned a gold plating company in NYC. The original E string tuner is included, I installed a black Hip Shot “D” tuner you see in the pics. About 6 years ago I came across the King Blossom guitar company who installs fiber optic side markers on their instruments. I contacted them and asked if they could fit my bass with the lighting. You can see the result in the pics, the operation entailed removing the frets, planning of the old finger board, fashioning a new finger board out of Birdseye maple, routing out the back side for the fiber optic lines and installing a second battery case and switch for the lights. They work like a charm, and the battery never wears out.

 The bass weight in at 10lbs as mentioned has the 1964 Fender Precision copy neck shape. Everything works, the active electronics, truss rod, all original pickups and pots.

Take a look at the case too, this is original to the purchase and was on the road for a long time. This is a fully professional bass, with a great pallet of sounds, it will serve you well. Any questions just ask..I’m selling to raise cash for a custom build, I hate to see this go😊
