Unlike other keyboards of the time, the M1 featured a groundbreaking combination of cutting-edge AI (Advanced Integrated) synthesis (PCM sound source), digital effects (2 channels), drums, and an 8-track sequencer, defining an entirely new product category known as the "music workstation." It is a truly epoch-making synthesizer that underpinned the music scene from the late 1980s through the 1990s. The M1R is a sound module version that packs the M1fs features into a 2U chassis.
