RARE! Gherson SG-style guitar - 1970s made in Italy

Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Incredibly rare Gherson SG-style guitar. Gherson was a medium sized manufacturer from Italy producing guitars for a wide range of customers and under their own brand in the 1960s and 1970s. This guitar was made in the early 1970s.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  628 mm

-Nut: 42,5 mm

-Weight: 2,98 kg

-Pickups: Two humbuckers, measuring at 7,9k each. Controlled with 2x volume and 2x tone, 3 way toggle switch.

-Body: solid wood, likely nato or poplar.

-Neck: slim C-shaped, likely maple with adjustable trussrod, dark rosewood or ebony fingerboard with a medium rounded radius (probably around 10’’) and slim vintage frets.

Condition:

-Body: Excellent condition with minor marks of wear and use.

-Neck: neck is straight, trussrod works smoothly, the frets are in good condition (8/10) with no buzz or fretting out. 1,9 mm string action at 12th fret set up.

-Hardware: fully functional

-Electrics: fully functional

-Originality: all original except the three way toggle, as the original was not working anymore.

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: Playability is great, a bit “vintage” but not too much.

-Sound: The pickups have a PAF-style, low output (typical vintage humbuckers) and deliver lots of twang and clarity, almost more like a Filtertron than a PAF. Please watch the video for a sound demo.  

Repairs, Service:

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-Bridge / string action adjusted

-Fresh set of 10 gauge Pyramid nickel strings put on

-Ready to be played (just tune it up);

Auxiliary stuff:

-No case or gigbag included. It will be wrapped well, and put into a sturdy cardboard box with lots of filler material.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
