B&W DM601 S2 Speakers (pair) Black

B&W DM601 S2s in lovely condition, almost unmarked. These were my home monitors till they were replaced with Neumann KH120s

The balance of the 601 is virtually identical to the Neumanns – so much so it was a surprise to me. The Neumanns have more depth and are capable of higher levels with more bass output, but the 601s are remarkably cohesive and easy to work with

I picked the 601s after a listening test of nearly every pair of speakers in the shop – to my mind they had the best balance of all, had a top end that was very listenable, and were capable of throwing a 3D sonic image. For the price I don’t think there are better small hifi speakers

I recommend a good amp to drive these. I used a Quad 405 and a Yamaha PC 1602 at different times and the B&Ws were quite capable of showing up differences between the amplifiers
