About this listing
1970 Gibson SG Custom case queen with original hang tags that has been stored in exceptional condition over the past 55 years. Iconic setup in Angus Young's own legendary 1970 SG Custom two-pickup original Patent Number double humbucker configuration, although the route for a third middle pickup exists under the pick guard. The features on this guitar only existed for a few months as Norlin took over Gibson in December 1969 and changed the SG Custom significantly for 1971. There is a reason why one of the most famous guitarists on earth specifically plays a 1970 and not a 69 or a 71 or any other model...you only get these features on a 1970. Angus Young's first original 1970 SG Custom is what started it all, and it is very hard to find a 1970 model because it was the beginning of Gibson's new ownership under Norlin and a transition period. You see plenty of 69 models, but rarely a 1970. Of course there are some marks from being over half a century old, but the original nitrocellulose walnut finish has survived far better than any other example you can find online from the late 60s to early 70s. If you want the very best, you are looking at it. Look at how clean the mother-of-pearl inlays are after 55 years on this example! You would be absolutely crazy to spend the same price on one of these brand new Gibson Murphy Lab replicas or Collector's Choice guitars when you could have the real deal. This particular guitar was sold new in England and lived there its entire life, including in a major London studio before I brought it with me to Denmark.Worldwide shipping to any country.
