About this listing
Bought as a 1x12 combo from new in 1994 (see receipt photo) and loved all these years, it's time to let this amp go. I'm not in a band any more and my requirements are more for recording equipment. This amp is more for practice (it has an aux in for music audio sources), and gigging. The cab and speaker were useless so I had the amplifier re-housed in a head unit which has made it much more useful for carting around and using with a variety of cabinets. The overdrive channel was modded in 2012 by pro amp manufacturer Maughan Amplification (see photos) to make the gain stage and tone stack warmer and more like a JCM 900. However, the clean channel remains as original, the big warm cleans that the 6V6 valves are known for (think Fender Twin Reverb), and the vintage spring reverb complements it perfectly. There is a separate reverb level control for both Channel 1 and Channel 2. The footswitch selects between Channel 1 (clean) and Channel 2 (overdrive), and between Gain 1 and Gain 2 for channel 2.Upgraded from original power valves Billington Gold 6V6 a few years ago with matched pairs of JJ Electronic 6V6 - '...high-quality, durable beam power pentode tubes...producing a warm, vintage American tone with strong mids and a robust low-end.'Also upgraded the original 12AX7 'Hot Rod' preamp valves with TADs.
