Video: Gamechanger Audio PLUS Sustain Pedal

We've written before about a certain kind of player who wants the functionality of a piano's sustain pedal in a stompbox. While Electro-Harmonix made strides toward that with its innovative Freeze sound retainer pedal, EHX really hit the mark with its Superego+. That pedal's "sustain" mode, when engaged, allows you to hold down any note or chord as long as you'd like, while being able to layer new sustained sounds on top. But the Superego+ also comes with many, many different functions and synth-like features.

Gamechanger Audio's PLUS sustain pedal not only gives you that simple, piano-sustain-pedal functionality—it's also built like a piano's pedal, in an inviting and effective take on outside-the-stompbox design.

Taking an instantaneous sample of a struck chord or note, it allows you to layer up to five different sounds simultaneously. The "real time audio sampling" stays true to your guitar's original tone, without adding any additional synthy textures. Four knobs—Blend, Sustain, Rise, and Tail—let you adjust the different parameters to sculpt the exact response and sound you desire.

Some additional features that really improve the versatility are the inclusion of two independent outputs and an FX loop, which lets you attach the PLUS to another effects unit and use that pedal to modify the PLUS' wet or dry signals separately. For example, you can send the sustained notes through a wild delay, while playing a clear, unaffected lick on top.

As you can see in Andy's demo above, this simple yet versatile pedal can open many possibilities in your playing. Be sure to watch the full video, and click here to buy your PLUS pedal or here to buy your PLUS pedal with the additional footswitch today.
