Up for sale is my unique, handmade sitar purchased in 2018 from GS Musicals in Miraj, crafted to blend Ravi Shankar-style aesthetics with Vilayat Khan tuning. This sitar has a wonderful 3/4 open sound and is richly decorated with incredible penmanship and ornate designs across the neck.
- Features:
- Design: Intricate decorative work on the neck and body, showcasing beautiful hand-done craftsmanship.
- Bridge: Authentic deer horn bridge, producing deep, resonant tones with warm, rich overtones.
- Pegs/Tuners: All pegs are in excellent working condition for stable, long-lasting tuning.
- Toomba: The back toomba (gourd) has been removed but is included with the sitar; you can see in the pictures that two small areas of paint have chipped off over time. Personally, I feel this sitar resonates perfectly without the back toomba, but it’s available to reattach if preferred.
- Condition: Excellent overall sound and structural condition; only selling due to space constraints and recent upgrades.
- Case: Comes with an older but reliable hard case, which is well-suited for flights.
This sitar is ideal for players who want a unique sound profile with classic Vilayat Khan tuning and a visually stunning instrument. Reach out for sound samples or any additional details!
