Very rare Gretsch Master built Black Falcon.
Originally built by master builder Stephen Stern in 2014, this Black Falcon is sure to blow minds.
First of all, Black Falcons are rarely made by the Gretsch Custom shop, the striking gold sparkle really makes it pop, especially with the gold hardware.
The guitar is probably one of the best looking guitars ever made.
It’s build quality is just incredible,
When you pick it up and play it you can see just how amazing stephen stern really is !
As one of the preeminent archtop builders at the Custom Shop, Stephen Stern has studied under two of the world's greatest archtop luthiers—Jimmy D'Aquisto and Bob Benedetto. ... Stern came to the Custom Shop in 1993, working with D'Aquisto on the latter's namesake line of guitars until the great luthier's death in 1995.
The G Cadillac tailpiece, grover imperial tuners and the horizontal headstock logo gives it a truly original 50s Gretsch vibe.
And for tone it’s loaded with TV jones for the classic Gretsch sound.
A falcon is a surprisingly versatile instrument, having been put to the test by such players as neil young, brian jones, steve marriot, roy Orbison, joe strummer, billy Duffy, and many more.
It does great clean tones but can also dirty up and rocks out!
This master built Black Falcon is in excellent as new condition, having barely played by the original owner.
It comes with a super high quality Gretsch case that is only available for Custom shop instruments as well as the certificate of authenticity and hang tags, black Gretsch strap, and many other Gretsch custom shop goodies that came with it when new, speaking of that a brand new one would take 18 months to build and cost over $10,000. So this is a great deal!
The guitar has been fully vetted and has been set up by a very respected tech so it plays beautifully with low action and feels great!
