This is a mid-80's, custom ordered USA Hamer Vector recently upgraded and refinished.
Details:
22 medium jumbo nickel frets, mahogany body, set neck, rosewood board, 2H- Dimarzio Super Distortion (B) and PAF (N), OFR, Vol, Vol, Tone, 3 way toggle, black hardware, missing the truss rod cover. OHSC (pretty beat up but functional) Original finish was pretty beat up from copious touring with chips, dings, indentations and cracks. Nothing into the wood.
Mods:
Jay Kolnada at NTL Guitars in Nashville routed under OFR for full range pull up on bar, dressed frets, replaced tone pot w/ push/push for tapping, rewired to original specs, installed and set up new OFR, replaced Dimarzio Super D with SD TB-5 (still have Dimarzio if interested), replaced stock strap locks with Schaller locking, removed personalized inlay and replaced with blank MOP, per my request. New customized truss rod cover from Frets on the Net.
Ben Stikeleather at ROWYCO Kustoms repainted from original white and black motif to current green and black motif.
Despite being modded, this guitar still embodies and represents some of the best boutique guitar making happening in the 80's. Hamer never quite achieved the level of market prevalence and endorsee saturation that the USA made Fenders, Gibsons, Charvels and Jacksons of that time were enjoying, but they were an absolute powerhouse in quality and materials. Hand made and custom ordered before that even became a buzz word, Hamers were the proverbial working man's guitar, balancing excellence in quality with reasonable cost.
