Overview

The Van Eps debuted in the late '60s and featured Gretsch's Filter'Tron humbuckers, as well as their unique Floating Sound Unit, or "tuning fork" hardware between the pickups and the bridge. The Floating Sound Unit would disappear from the Van Eps (and all Gretsch electrics) near the end of the decade, before Gretsch reorganized their model numbering in the early '70s. In 1971, the Van Eps switched from Filter'Trons to Super'Tron humbuckers for the last few production years of the guitar. Also produced as a 7-String model.
