Video: Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz Unveils His New Artist Series StingRay Bass

How does Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz get, as he calls it, "the best tone that we've had from a live show to date?" His new signature StingRay bass. After the bassist road-tested the new model this summer, it's now available for everyone.

Released today, the new Sterling by Music Man Pete Wentz Artist Series StingRay offers an accessible entry point into his dynamic punk tones—and it's not without its frills. While available in a standard Black, there are also 50 limited-edition bass packages available exclusively on Reverb right now.

Each of the 50 special bundles include the Pete Wentz Artist Series StingRay, an autographed pickguard, and a professional-quality Mono case. Head to The Official Pete Wentz Reverb Shop now to purchase.

The Pete Wentz StingRay

Pete's StingRay was designed to withstand the rigors of long roads and long setlists. "For me, a bass has to stand up and be able to play a lot of different songs," Pete says. "Also, what I've noticed with these particular basses is they stay in tune well—and we're dealing with going from the air-conditioning of backstage into the heat of summer tour in stadiums and amphitheaters."

Judging by the live shows, the basses even withstand the attachment of a flamethrower—though that's an accessory you'll have to find on your own.

As for the features of the bass, Pete and Sterling by Music Man kept it simple and effective: an Alnico V humbucker for vintage-style warmth and punch, one knob each for volume and tone, and sleek black hardware. The roasted maple neck includes a custom inlay of a loon—a bird that Pete says is "beautiful but really spooky."

Watch Pete show off the bass in our video above, and then head to The Official Pete Wentz Reverb Shop to get your own.
