Modest Mouse To Sell More Great Gear on Reverb

One of the most highly lauded and beloved alternative bands of the past two decades, Modest Mouse, is infusing their Official Modest Mouse Reverb Shop with more great gear from their collection.

"I would go down to the music store, and I would just buy anything that looked interesting to me," gear enthusiast and frontman Isaac Brock told us. "I could just take it back or resell it, but then I wouldn't do that—I would be like, eh—you'll have a purpose someday. I'd kind of panic that if I didn't have a whole bunch of new gadgets and tools to work with, I was gonna make the same songs."

Fellow gear nerds can certainly relate to that—and to the creeping feeling that it's time to thin the herd. As Isaac tells us, once you start to amass too many choices, the options become a bit paralyzing. That's why today, September 5, the Official Modest Mouse Reverb Shop is reopening with a fresh selection of Isaac's hyperfixations.

As with the band's initial shop offerings from a few years back, this round likewise features a wide selection of gear across categories. You'll be able to find a variety of excellent synths, like a Moog Mother-32 and Arp Odyssey, alongside some more experimental gear. Four Circuit Bent Speak and Spell-style units will be available for example, all with their own unique character.

Guitarists will also have a lot to choose from, including several Fender amplifiers and a massive selection of effects pedals. You'll find anything you could want on the effects front, from affordable mass-productions by Boss and TC Electronic to more limited, boutique brand fare by Meris and Empress.

Perhaps one of the most unique items that will be available in the Official Modest Mouse Reverb Shop shop is a set of three connected stadium chairs that, according to Brock, were in the Shreveport Fairgrounds during the 1956 Elvis performance where the term “Elvis has left the building” was first used.

Other items that will be in the shop include:

  • A mammoth 150-watt Soursound Audio Custom Amp head, complete with its road case.
  • Three gold Telefunken M80 microphones that have been used on Modest Mouse tours.
  • More great synths, like a Moog Voyager XL, Dave Smith Prophet 12, Moog Sub 37, Ciat-Lonbarde Cocoquantus, Roger Linn Linnstrument, and more.
  • A few Soviet-era pieces of gear, including a Polivoks Polyvox and two Lell UDS Soviet Analog Drum Synthesizer made in the 1980s.
  • Rare pedals, like the Electro-Harmonix Rhythm-12 and an original MIJ Boss Chorus Ensemble.
  • A bunch of excellent Modest Mouse merch for those looking for something less gear-related.

The Official Modest Mouse Reverb Shop has now officially opened its doors.
