Like so many other guitarists, Jeorge Tripps has been a lifelong fan of Fuzz Faces. The pedals—first made by Arbiter and made famous by Jimi Hendrix—have been a mainstay of the guitar-playing world's signal chains ever since.
Before Tripps started building them officially for Dunlop, which has been manufacturing Fuzz Faces since 1993, he was creating clones and clone-like circuits for his own Way Huge brand. You can hear all about his personal history with the effect in our video above, from an interview we recorded for Reverb's upcoming The Pedal Movie.
Today, we're announcing a new, special edition of the Fuzz Face: The Dunlop Limited Hybrid Fuzz Face. Handbuilt by Tripps, these 10 pedals will be an extremely limited-edition run.
Housed in a full-sized Army Green chassis, the Hybrid Fuzz Face circuit uses one Russian GT308B germanium transistor and one American 2N5087 silicon transistor to produce a wonderfully rich, cascading fuzz effect. Tripps only has enough materials to build 10 pedals, which will be sold first come, first served.
The Dunlop Limited Hybrid Fuzz Face will be for sale this coming Tuesday, January 19, in The Pedal Movie Shop on Reverb.
We expect these limited-edition Fuzz Faces to sell out very quickly.
If you have an appetite for a Fuzz Face, but don't want to compete for these limited-edition models, you can find hundreds of new, used, and vintage Fuzz Faces on Reverb now. And keep your eyes peeled for more limited-edition releases next month.
