YAMAHA / 1971 FG-2000

Have you ever sensed "history" in a guitar's sound?
There are many factors that contribute to this, from the deep resonance you feel the moment you play to the dry resonance.
This Yamaha FG-2000 is a guitar that truly captures the passion of that era.

Yamaha entered a new era in 1971 with the addition of Terry Nakamoto, an essential figure in Japanese folk music history.

And that same year, when the popularity of the FG became unwavering, the company announced a lineup of "premium handmade FGs."
Three models were released: the FG-1500, FG-2000, and FG-2500 (12-string), which ultimately helped put Yamaha Acoustic on the map worldwide.

This particular guitar is a rare example, manufactured in 1971, the very first year of production.

It was crafted by Japan's finest craftsmen, maintaining the same energy as the Red Label era.

The bridge also retains the Red Label design, featuring an early Yamaha headstock with a V-shaped tip.

Just looking at this shape makes it easy to feel the spirit of the time.

And when you lightly pluck the strings, a surge of excitement that will make you want to sing along will surely come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the roughness of the FG-180.
While it's true that playing forcefully produces a rough sound, even with gentle play, the sound soars forward while maintaining a sense of openness and brilliance.
The low range is mellow and soft, yet has a core.
It's almost tempting to think that Jacaranda wood was used to capture the best parts.

Luster, fragrance, and resonance.
The charm of this model is captured in every note.
Even after half a century, it still looks beautiful and plays in excellent condition.
The passion and pride of these craftsmen still lives on in the FG-2000.
