Yamaha YSG TII, 80s. Excellent Lindy Fralin Hum-Cancelling P-90 Pickups, Rare!

One doesn’t come across YSGs very often in the U.S. (perhaps because of its striking resemblance to guitars from a famous U.S. guitar manufacturer, including the cool deep-dish-shaped top!). However this is a very solid, very clean, well-built guitar from the 1980s that plays beautifully, especially now that it has an awesome set of hum-cancelling P-90 pickups from Lindy Fralin. 

From Lindy’s website: “Our Hum-Cancelling P-90’s still have that undeniable thick Single-Coil tone that you love, only with no hum at all.  Single notes have a punchy, thick sonic footprint and have great sustain.  Chords break up nicely with a slight compression and great note separation.  Fralin Hum-Cancelling P-90 Replacements offer undeniable clarity and definition while remaining strong, fat, thick, and punchy.”  One strum of this guitar and you will know exactly what Lindy's talking about.

The one and only Rudy’s in NYC installed the pickups and did a complete professional set-up, so that literally all one needs to do is plug it in and play!  The body, neck, frets and fretboard are all in very good shape.  The intonation is spot on and there are no fret buzzes anywhere along the 24-fret board. 

The back of the neck has a few scratches from around the 12th to 15th frets, but they’re hardly noticeable while playing.  Other than that, there are no other blemishes that I can find. 

This is a cool, hard-to-find guitar that sounds great.  If you’re not familiar with these pickups, listen to them on YouTube and you might be pleased with what you hear.
